Reflexology Lymph Drainage
Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD): a reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. It was developed through clinical practice using reflexology for patients suffering from all kinds of cancers at all stages of the disease. Many of the patients had been treated for breast cancer and consequently suffered secondary lymphoedema.
Complaints relating to lymphoedema often include; a swollen arm, painful shoulder, uncomfortable underarm swelling, weakness and problems with everyday living activities. The aim of this precision treatment is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body and help with the reduction of lymphoedema. It involves isolating and stimulating lymphatic reflexes of the feet, to encourage the excess lymph to drain from the damaged area to the nearest uncompromised lymphatic drainage area. Although the technique was originally developed to treat lymphoedema of the arm it is believed to benefit lymphoedema elsewhere in the body and may be used for the following conditions:
